The Heart of the Ceremony: A Q&A with Anita from Lovage Ceremonies, Curated by Jen from Yorkshire Brides…
1. When, how, and why did you start your celebrancy business?
I launched Lovage Ceremonies after realising that weddings could benefit from more personality and heart! Why settle for the same words read a thousand times? A wedding ceremony should be as unique as the love you’ve found. With a background in radio, writing, and producing, I’ve always been fascinated by how words can shape a story, capture a moment, and bring people together. After completing my celebrant training and becoming an accredited Independent Celebrant, I wanted to offer couples something truly special: a ceremony that’s as unique as their love story!
2. How did you get involved within the wedding industry?
I’ve always been captivated by people’s journeys, especially love stories. Considering a career as a celebrant seemed to align perfectly with my personality and skills, and I believed it would be both fulfilling and satisfying. The turning point came when I read my own piece at a friend’s wedding. The positive response overwhelmed me! Many guests approached me afterward, not only to congratulate me but also to suggest that I should become a celebrant if I wasn’t one already. It became clear that this was the path I should follow.
3. What makes your services unique?
With years of experience in radio, I bring plenty of imagination to the table! I create one-of-a-kind, bloomin’ fabulous, completely unique ceremonies that celebrate the couple’s love story and vision, delivered with a beaming smile that can be seen from space. Why? Because I just love, LOVE!
What sets Lovage Ceremonies apart is my commitment to creating bespoke, deeply personal ceremonies and my genuine desire to craft something truly special that will be remembered for years to come.
From our first consultation, I listen and inspire, whether the couple is planning an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration.
4. What can a couple expect from you on the day of their wedding or in the build-up to their big day?
On their wedding day, couples can expect an unflappable, calm, confident, and supportive celebrant who arrives early and ensures everything runs smoothly. Leading up to the big day, we’ll meet multiple times to discuss every detail, from vows to special rituals, and I’m always available for questions. I set up a ‘WhatsApp wedding’ chat so they can reach out at any time – from booking to the day of the ceremony itself. I also work closely with other vendors to ensure everything flows seamlessly so the couple can enjoy their special day stress-free.
5. What is your favourite part of a wedding day?
My favourite part is undoubtedly the exchanging of the vows. Standing with a couple during this moment is incredibly special. The emotions—love, joy, anticipation—are always so palpable, and it’s an honour to witness such a meaningful commitment. Helping couples create a ceremony that reflects their unique bond makes this job truly magical!
6. Can you advise your booking process?
Before booking, I offer a discovery call (either in person or via video chat) to discuss how their ceremony could look. It’s a great opportunity for couples to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit. Once they confirm the booking, I send a contract and booking form, and just a 25% deposit secures that all-important date. We then schedule follow-up meetings to craft the perfect ceremony, discuss ideas, and go over details like music and readings. I also guide the couple through any legalities, such as giving notice. I’m here to guide and support them every step of the way!
7. Are you appearing at any wedding fairs, where couples can meet you in person?
Yes! I regularly attend local wedding fairs – I met so many wonderful couples recently at the Belle Bridal ‘Love & Luxe’ Wedding Show at Rudding Park! As a wedding celebrant based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, it was great to attend such a local event.
- Big Yorkshire Wedding Show at Sandburn Hall, Sunday 2nd March 2025
- The ‘Elite Collection’ UK Wedding Event at Allerton Castle on Sunday 23rd March 2025
These events give couples a chance to meet me in person, ask questions, and get a feel for my style and personality. It’s a wonderful opportunity to chat, explore ceremony ideas, and see if we’re the right fit. I always share details of upcoming wedding fairs on Instagram.
8. Any other info you would like to include, for example, packages, availability, offers.
I’m based in North Yorkshire but also available as a destination celebrant. I specialise in the gorgeous Garfagnana region of North Tuscany (often described as Italy’s hidden gem) and can speak Italian. Wherever and whatever your dream ceremony entails, we can make it a reality. Have passport, can travel! We’ll chat through all the possibilities, and I’ll also help you with the legals in the UK.
It’s always best to book your celebrant early – as soon as you’ve booked the date with the venue! This especially applies during peak season to secure your preferred date. Feel free to get in touch anytime to discuss ideas or check availability—I’d love to help you create the wedding of your dreams!
Lovage Ceremonies has limited availability for 2025, with the 2026/2027 diary now open.
